Imagine National Dance Challenge FAQs
Registrations for the 2026-2027 season are done through DanceBug. You can access your registration either on www.imaginedancechallenge.com and logging into your Studio or Independent account, or directly through the DanceBug website and locating Imagine National Dance Challenge, and your specific event. All registrations must be submitted through the online system - no phone, email, fax, or mailed entries will be accepted.
It is important to note that any transfer of routines comes from your global DanceBug roster, rather than any specific event registration. To ensure your registration is submitted accurately, we ask that you keep your global roster up to date at all times and to double-check all registrations when transferred.
Once your routines have been added into any given event registration, any changes made will need to be communicated to ALL brands as the changes will not automatically update across all event registrations or systems.
Once you have added your studio into your event, please submit a reservation total. This is your routine count, and we ask that you are as accurate as possible. Reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis with a non-refundable deposit of $10 per routine to secure your spot in the event.
Deposits are required and must be paid by October 1st. If an event reaches capacity before this deadline, studios will be contacted and given 10 days to submit their deposit. If a deposit is not received according to the guidelines stated in our rules & regulations, the spots will be automatically released without correspondence.
We accept credit card or e-check payments. However, any e-check payments must be submitted prior to 45 days out from the event. There are no processing fees associated with any payment method. We do NOT accept personal checks, money orders, or cash payments.
Deposits are non-refundable, and non-transferrable to any other SDA brand within 59 days or less of an event should entire attendance be withdrawn.
Yes! Any independent dancer interested in competing at one of our events is welcome to create or log into their Independent account to register for any open event. Dancers with studio affiliation will need to have written permission to compete Independently. Please note independents cannot compete at the same event if their studio is also registered at that event. Any media fees will need to be paid directly in the independent account, and are not linked to any studio account.
Yes! The DanceOne Season Media Pass is required once per season, per dancer, for unlimited photos and videos.
To gain access to the photos & videos captured from your event, please go to http://media.dance.one/. You will be unable to claim the media through the app or the App Store. It must be completed through the website above. Each dancer’s media can only be claimed by one account.
Parent/guardian accounts will have access to media for 90 days. During this period media can be downloaded and streamed unlimited times. After 90 days the media storage can be extended for an additional fee. To return to the videos or photos, go to http://media.dance.one/ and log in. If you have further questions, please reach out to [email protected] directly.
Any changes to your registration within 30 days of the event must be submitted via email, in writing, with change fees applied. Please contact the Imagine Clients Relations Manager directly.
On www.imaginedancechallenge.com, click SCHEDULE, and scroll or toggle to your specific event. The venue name will be listed, along with a link to the MAP. This will include the address and GPS location via google maps.
We offer a few different options for add-ons at our events.
The Headshot Competition is open to any registered dancer at that specific event. However, the Headshot Competition is not tied to any specific routine. Dancers will register the add-on and either pre-upload or bring a 5x7 or larger photograph on the first day of the event, which will be scored by our panel of qualified judges. Please see our rules & regulations for more information.
Our Costume Competition is open to soloists and groups, and must be registered before the performance. All registered entries will be judged for Costume during their solo or group performance. There are separate Solo 11 & Under and 12 & Over Costume and Overall Group Costume awards given out, with a top 3 presented in each.
Our Title Competition is open to all registered Competitive and Elite soloists. All registered entries must be submitted prior to their performance, and will be judged on equal parts technique and overall presentation during their solo performance. Dancers can place separately in both overalls and title. Please see our rules & regulations for more information.
Our No Labels Competition is our Improvisation Competition, open to any registered 12-14 or 15-19 soloist. All registered entries must be submitted prior to their performance, and will be scored on their movement quality during their performance. The top ten scoring dancers will be brought back at the end of the determined session to compete in the Improv Finale! Please see our rules & regulations for more information.
All fully submitted studios will receive a final schedule for regional events about 10-12 days out from the start of the event. This will be emailed directly to the email addresses listed in the DanceBug account, so please be sure to keep the information updated so you do not miss important information!
In the DanceOne Media app, once you are logged into your account, you will be able to view your studio’s schedule, and on the first day of the event, a live schedule and a full schedule will become available. The livestream will also be available via the DanceOne Media app, or on our main website.
There is NO general scheduling format, as each schedule is based on the breakdown of routines registered for that specific city event. Our schedules are not based around props, hair or makeup requests. Studio directors - Please email [email protected] to submit with a conflict request. Please keep in mind scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed.
For a breakdown of our age divisions, please go to Section 8 of our Rules & Regulations, as we have an entire section dedicated to this information!
To join the waitlist, please email [email protected]. Please provide your studio name, the event you’d like to be waitlisted for and the estimated routine count. There is unfortunately no guarantee for the waitlist. If any pre-registered studios cancel, or a routine count was overestimated, we will review the waitlisted studios and reach out via email immediately.
To qualify for an Imagine Nationals, each routine must qualify at an SDA regional event. It does not need to be an Imagine event, but does need to be an SDA brand.
